Broadcasting a pre-recorded video
by Joe
I want to add a pre-recorded video (an avi file on my hard disk) to run during my live show. When I click on "Upload" (in the bottom left corner) I can select the video from my hard disk. Its name then appears at the top of the library list. How can I now drag this video into a live scene?
Thanks. Joe

I've experimented further since my last post. The video I want to upload is almost 1 GB. So I tried with an mp3 file (only 3.5 MB) and saw that a yellow bar to the right of the file name in Media Library gradually fills, then says "preparing" and is then ready. It then plays in the window to the right of Library. But I'm not able to broadcast this sound file live in a show.
I then tried with a very short avi file (2 seconds only and only 2KB). Again, I could see it loading in the yellow bar, then it said "encoding" and was then ready to be moved into a scene. I then started a show including this 2-second avi. The result: only a still picture from the 2-second avi, no movement.
I'm clearly doing some things right and others wrong!
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Joe

RE: Broadcasting a pre-recorded video
Hello Joe!

I had a look at your archive. The problem is, that your 2-seconds-video is too short. We are synchronising all media in your archive during playback but especially at the beginning of an archive. Since your video is in the first scene it has finished playing before the archive is displayed(it is displayed from second 4) in sync. Our sychronisation-mechanism is optimized for recorded video-streams, thats why it seems to skip your video. Try using a longer video (10 seconds length for example) and repeat your test. Or try starting with a scene, that doesn´t contain your video and then switch to the scene with your video.

If you just want to produce a show that only contains a preproduced video-file try using our "video-upload" located below your player on your channel-page. This will create a new archived show with just the video as content.

Best regards

Hi Suha,

Thanks for your reply and for explaining the problem with a video which is so short.

I'm experimenting with other features of make.tv and will probably post a few questions later on if that's okay.

Cheers,

Joe
