Live Video: Launched at SXSW, now everywhere & the future of live streaming
1:30–2:30pm @ German Haus (Barracuda, 611 E 7th St, Austin)
Two years after Meerkat and Periscope launched at SXSW, we will take a look at what worked and what didn’t. Most big social sites have now brought out their own solutions for UGC live streaming. Twitch IRL and Facebook Live launched, Periscope is now integrated into Twitter, YouTube Live is continuing to evolve and Instagram Stories launched globally. Live Streaming is becoming a baseline but what are the best practices and how can producers and creators take best advantage of all the ways to create and publish live video? We will hear from industry leaders what technologies get the most traction today and how. How are publishers, broadcasters and brands taking advantage of these new opportunities available? What can we expect to see change in the next couple of years?
Speakers:
- Deborah Acosta (Interactive Video Journalist at The New York Times)
- Darian S. Harvin (Editor and News Curator at BuzzFeed)
- Kay Meseberg (Head of VR/360 at ARTE)
